[Bioc-devel] Importing generic functions from other pkgs and defining methods on them?
Sorry for not providing a reproducible example. After a couple of days, I finally noticed that generic functions are not defined for ncol/nrow and that was what the problem for "image" to work for me (as I also define methods for both and naively assumed they were had generics). b

Yes. But without a bit more detail that's all I could say. So in oligo there is an image method, but it seems to work (dispatch) fine for me after installing oligo. For example: library(oligo)

image(ff)
