[Bioc-devel] Extending annotation packages

While affy fits this model, other chips do not and I am not aware of
"probe" packages for anything other than affy.  I'm not averse to
    

is the 'lumi' approach of using a hashed version of the probe sequence
as the probe identifier at all relevant?  seems to avoid the need for
a probe package (at least to provide the sequences and map them to
identifiers).  [additionally, is there a proof that there are no 2 distinct
sequences that hash to the same hash string?]
