[Bioc-devel] rmspc problems reported in the Multiple platform build/check report for BioC 3.20

Dear Community,

I submitted a recent version of the package rmspc to Bioconductor a year
ago, to upgrade it. A prerequisite for the rmspc package is .NET 6.0.
Before installing the rmspc package, the program .NET 6.0. should already
be installed on the user's computer.

I recently received an email saying the package didn't pass the platform
build check for the host *nebbiolo2*. I believe this error may have
occurred because .NET 6.0 isn't installed on this platform.

Thank you for your help!

Our system administrator is currently out of office. When they return we will look into this.

Hi,

Looking at https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet, support for .NET 6.0 ended November 12, 2024. While .NET 6.0 is available in the Ubuntu backports repository, please consider updating rmspc to work with a currently supported version of .NET.

In the meantime, I've installed .NET 6.0 on our release Linux server and left .NET 8.0 on our devel Linux server, which is available via the Ubuntu repository by default as you may want to consider as a replacement.

Thank you, Jennifer. We will look into updating the package with a newer
version of .NET when we have a chance.

I am still receiving emails about the package failing in other hosts. Will
that be solved too in the meantime?

Thank you,
Meriem

I did install .NET on another machine. According to the latest reports, only the Linux devel server nebbiolo1 is failing for rmspc.
