R 1.4.0 build fails on AIX (PR#1289)

I just tried it with CC=cc and FC=f77, and I got the coredump in the same
place.  This is on AIX 4.3.3 with Maintenance Level 09.

Hmm. According to R I have
   platform rs6000-ibm-aix4.3.3.0

There's another few AIX users at CMU, so we should find out how widespread
this is fairly soon.

Are you compiling 32-bit or 64-bit?
