This could well be due to incompatible thread models (win32 vs posix). See the thread "V8 crashes..." on the Rcpp-devel mailing list. We have not yet had a chance to test the gcc 4.9.2 toolchain built with win32 threads.
I believe the RStudio folks have tried it, and it was not sufficient to fix everything; time just ran out for finding what else was wrong. Duncan Murdoch
