partial matches for attribute name

  o   attr() partial matches for attribute name.

If this does what I think it does then I don't think it is a very good idea, and
is also not consistent with S:

In Splus I get

attr(diag(.5,3), "dim")

[1] 3 3

attr(diag(.5,3), "di")

NULL

If I understand what partial matching does then I will not get this in R 0.62.2.
(I don't even like partial matching of list elements but I've learned to live
with that.)
