Ross plans to change and cleanup the R setup such that either Fortran or f2c will be required in a future release anyway.
Are we already requiring the libs? I forget. If we do, isn't it just a matter of adding them in when the .so file is linked?
On the other hand, there's currently src/appl/fortran.c src/include/Fortran.h which define POW_DD and POW_DI You may augment these by POW_II and POW_RI and send your patches to R-devel....
