Error on start
Prof Brian Ripley <ripley@stats.ox.ac.uk> writes:
Nor me (after those changes). *But* Type ^Demo()' for some demos, ^Help()' for on-line help, or ^Help.start()' for a HTML browser interface to help. Type ^Q()' to quit R. is wrong: there should be no ^ there, and lower case, so I think your machine is set in a strange character encoding, which would certainly explain the problem reading the base R file.
(I'd suspect that to be a cut+paste effect turning `q into ctrl-Q etc. in Torsten's editor...)
