anon cvs?

I'd like to add an "on.exit" flag to "reg.finalizer". Is it possible to
check out the source via anon cvs? (If so, which module is preferred for
this sort of thing, and which diff flags?)

We don't have anon cvs, but you can use rsync to get the source.  Try 

rsync rsync.r-project.org:: 

to see a list of the available directories.

It's not quite as convenient as anon cvs, but it's pretty close.
