Because when you do return(RutgersMapB36[,1]), the code checker has no
way to know that the RutgersMapB36 variable is actually defined.

Try this:

  RutgersMapB36 <- NULL
  data(RutgersMapB36)
  return(RutgersMapB36[,1])
}
