I have gcc; the trouble is I don't have g77, and I don't want to mix gcc objects with IBM XL Fortran objects in the same library.
gcc is the Gnu Compiler Collection: g77 is part of it! (see gcc.gnu.org for evidence.) You should be able to install the parts you (or someone) omitted before.
