Recent snapshot tarballs of R-devel don't compile

We don't know what file that is, though. Problems with snapshots need to be reported to the site which makes them. Perhaps you mean ftp://ftp.stat.math.ethz.ch/Software/R/R-devel_2008-12-03.tar.bz2 ? In which case see the README in that directory for how to report a problem.

Maybe, in which case running tools/link-recommended will fix it. Works for me with the snapshot mentioned above.
