core dump on 0.64.2 SPARC/Solaris 2.6 in eigen (PR#223)

$ gcc --version
egcs-2.91.66
$ g77 --version
GNU Fortran 0.5.24-19981002

I don't have this problem under Solaris 2.7 using gcc and Sun Workshop f77

2.8.1
wompom% f77 -V
f77: WorkShop Compilers 4.2 30 Oct 1996 FORTRAN 77 4.2
