compiling Snapshots under RedHat4.2

Hi,
 I have hp/hpux10.20 at work, and was able to build snapshots there. At home, I
have p120 linux redhat4.2. I thought it would work better than the hp, but... I
am getting missing routines drotg_ (I guess supposed to be in blas?) and
readline related linking errors. Do I need to upgrade to 5.0???
