Interest in R plotting capabilities

Forget what I said before, rectangular data works fine with contours, just need
to get the x and y ordering correct firstly.
should be

z<-matrix(data$z,length(x),length(y))

Sorry to bother you folks, I'm still learning this.

I would say that R has good plotting facilities and quite fast too.
