exportData(foo,"foo.xls","EXCEL") for R ?

Is there a package available for R which allows you to export data
directly to .xls, much like exportData(foo,"foo.xls","EXCEL") in S-PLUS ?
If not, is anyone working on this, or thinking about working on this?
