S Programming Book at Amazon.com

not really that strange. amazon had some in inventory, all of
which apparently got snapped up this morning at the fire sale
price. apart from that inventory, the best info amazon currently
has is that the publisher is out of stock. if someone makes an
inquiry to amazon customer service, and the publisher is not
actually out of stock, the status will eventually change (though
it'd be surprising if the price stayed at ~$18 after re-ordering
from springer). certainly either springer or amazon is wrong, but
i wouldn't take for granted which one; there's inevitably some
latency in availability data on a website.

i know of at least a couple of people besides me who successfully
ordered the book this morning.

cheers
jon.
