What's "latex" for?

It means that a LaTeX version of the help page has been produced (it is stored in the package directory, in the latex/ subdirectory). It is used to produce the PDF manuals, and by help(offline=TRUE). The necessary style file is in RHOME/share/texmf/ -thomas
