using chm help files under linux

Hi, Chm (compiled help) is a microsoft invention. It's the default help system under windows, but not so under linux. I found that (at times) I like better how chm help looks. Since there are chm viewers under linux, using chm help files should be possible.
You don't just need a viewer, you need a help compiler. We were unable to find a complete one other than from Microsoft, and the latter seems no longer to be under development (and has a serious security alert on it). So the future of CHM help even for R under Windows is uncertain.
Has anybody tried to set R so it opens chm by default? I'm sure there's some flag or Rprofile var that could get this done.
There is for R for Windows, it that is what you are asking. And you can run Windows R under WINE. Personally, I like the Mac OS X compiled help system better than the Windows one, but we do not provide that even on Mac OS X. And these things *are* a matter of personal preference.
