I'm very interested in your work, maybe you could send me the "late stage
version" :-)

In my opinion, the problem is not writing a database-driver in R but the
way to transform data sets in R-"data.frames". We should use the R/S
style data.frames for storing data in R. I'm very interested in a
discussion about that.
