Venables and Ripley's supplementary notes state that Unix R provides a command history mechanism in which previous commands can be recalled using the up and down arrows. My version of R (Digital Unix 4.0) doesn't appear to support this. Is this an installation issue and is there a workaround?
Obtain and install a recent version of the GNU readline library and then reconfigure and make R. Try: ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/gnu/readline/readline-2.2.1.tar.gz Ross -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !)
