png file

Prof Ripley,

Sorry for not being clear !! What I meant is that when I type ?png under
UNIX it gives me the information about the png function so I thought that
it should be supported.
I will check what you suggested.

Dear R-help list users,

I have a question about saving a graph as .png file under Unix.  The R
version is 1.2.2.  The message I am getting is

Error in X11(paste("png::", filename, sep = ""), width, height,

pointsize,

:  unable to start device PNG
 No png support in this version of R

That means exactly what it says.  Where did your version come from?

even though when I do help on png it shows that it should be working ok

and

it should be supported.

What help?  R's help says nothing like that.

Look at the configure logs to see why it was not configured in, if you
compiled it yourself.
