I just downloaded rw1061.exe from CRAN and got an error message when

This is probably a problem with your download (unless you got
it from a mirror that somehow has a corrupted copy).
I have heard from 3 other people about errors with the
downloaded version. In the one case that I followed up with
most closely, it was a bad download.
To help diagnose problems like this, I've put files
containing checksums online. They should be visible tomorrow.
To use them, download md5sum.txt from the main directory (for
rw1061.exe) or from the mini directory (for all the mini*.*
files). Then find a copy of md5sum.exe and (while in the
directory containing the downloads) run
md5sum --check md5sum.txt
This will almost certainly detect any download errors.
I'm working on finding a copy of md5sum.exe that I can also
make available for download for people who don't already have
a copy.
For what it's worth, all the other 3 examples of people who
had download problems were using Windows 2000, but I've also
heard of people using Win2K who had no problems. I don't
know the cause yet.
