Larry, Oddly enough, I had tried just that before, with no success. This time I opted to close out R.app and start fresh. This time around it worked:
> library(tcltk)

Do we have a volunteer to get Tcl/Tk Aqua working with R? ;-) (Seriously, read Mac OS X FAQ 2.1.7 before even thinking of doing that!)
