Read Write permissions in current directory

Dear All,

I was just installing 'linkcomm' and had the following message which I
have not seen before and don't really understand:

NOTE: To use linkcomm, you require read and write permissions in the
current directory (see: help("getwd"), help("setwd"))

Having looked at these help pages I'm none the wiser.

Any advice much appreciated?
