R-beta: Memory requirement in Win NT
The windows versions are very experimental at this point. All development takes place in Unix and we don't know much about M$. The memory problems are know and are being worked on. There will be improvement come 1.0. If you are reading numerical-only data try using scan() rather than read.table(). read.table() is implemented in a very memory hungry fashion. In the mean-time I guess we'll have to refund your money :-) Ross -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !)
