Extract character from the end of a string

I have a list of names that look like this, with some ending in an "*" and
others not:

Steve Young*
Joe Montana*
Tom Brady
Daunte Culpepper
...

I want to create a variable that = 1 if the name ends in "*" and = 0
otherwise. Please help!
