Amount of memory under different OS
Your best bet currently is probably some flavor of Linux for x86-64 (assuming you are buying a box with AMD64 or EM64T chip). Personally I've had good experience with SUSE SLES8/9 and Fedora FC3. Even though 64-bit Windows might be out `soon' (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=22246), I believe it's lacking the 64-bit compilers for building R. Andy

Hi,
I have a problem: I need to perform a very tough analysis, so
I would like
to buy a new computer with about 16 GB of RAM. Is it possible
to use all
this memory under Windows or have I to install other OS?
Thanks,
Marco
