Hao (of Rmpi fame) and I also see it on 64-bit Debian and Ubuntu, but not on the 32-bit variants. AFAIK it has something to do with how OMPI uses dlopen and which symbols get across to different library. You can suppress it via $ tail -4 /etc/openmpi/openmpi-mca-params.conf # edd 18 Dec 2008 mca_component_show_load_errors = 0 or using the equivalent switches on the command-line or via an env. var -- see the OMPI docs.
