Directly reading of *.dbf is not available (at my knowledge). You can read your data into a database like Postgres, MySQL or mSQL and then use the database packages RmSQL (CRAN) or RS_DBI (omegahat.org, I think) for reading your data into the R paradise :-) Torsten
