map projections
I've tried GMT about a year ago on these types (Lambert Equal Area Azimuthal) of mapping technique, and found GMT to be pretty good at it. It is also reasonably easy to use, with its provided detailed documentation you should have no problem learning it. Not sure about other mapping tools listed on www.freegis.org though.... www.freegis.org has a good summary of available projection packages. Tim Bernie McConnell wrote:
G' Day, Can you please tell me if there is R code for geographic projections? ie lat,lon -> x,y metres. I'm principally interested in Mercator and Lambert Equal Area Azimuthal.
