Memory allocation in problem R linux
R 1.2.1 --vsize 34M, --nsize 3000k, Slackware Linux 2.2.16 in UMSDOS,
P200,
64Mb ram, about 120Mb HD left in that partition (several hundred in
another,
if anyone thinks that could help). Runs like a breeze much of the time.
[SNIP] You don't need to specify --nsize or --vsize in R versions >= 1.2.x. Have a look at ?Memory.
If only _that_ were true! When I don't specify vsize to be well over twice the size of the data in memory (ie. 24Mb +), R hangs. In a nasty, un-interuptable, press reset on the front of the PC to escape, not-very-linux sort of way.
