At some point fairly soon rpart is expected to ship as part of S-PLUS and the interface will be frozen, but that means that Terry Therneau has made lots of undocumented changes that some of you have been finding.

Did you submit that suggestion to the authors (Therneau and Atkinson)? rpart is a port of an S package, and is only useful to me (the porter) if it remains almost exactly the same on the both systems.
