[newbie] aggregating table() results and simplifying code with loop

Looks very interesting and as I said you're a much better progamer than I am. I get headaches using lapply()!

I am going to have to spend some time stepping through the functions to really see what you are doing.   However if I understand the output, for example one can simply aggreate the information by Crop and Period in each element of the list to get the corresponding sums for each of the desired patterns?

Thus for example in result[[1]] we get all the results for condition 19 (crops) from wanted?
