Fritz, You may want to contact Ben Pfaff about this. Ben is the author of PSPP, a freely-available SPSS clone. It may be able to read the SPSS format and put it into something that would be easier to bring into R/Splus. -- Douglas Bates bates at stat.wisc.edu
