Debugging makefiles.
Thank you. I found the problem. For some reason there was a zero-length file with the name of 'r' in the bin directory. When I removed this the build worked fine. I still don't know why this file caused a problem but I am happy with the solution. Kevin

I have sucessfully built and run R from source and I have begun to change some of the source files to help with my learning process. If have tried the '-d' option but that is entirely too much debug information for me to digest. I just need to know where '../../bin/R' is needed and why it is not found. Thank you. Kevin
