Problems with installation on Debian
Check your $PATH environment variable - what's happening is the old version is in an earlier search path than the new one. In debian, the old is probably in /usr/bin/R and the new in /usr/local/bin/R since you built it from source. Best would probably be to remove the whole thing, which you can probably do with: dpkg --remove r-base ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew J Perrin - Ph.D. Candidate, UC Berkeley, Dept. of Sociology Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - http://demog.berkeley.edu/~aperrin aperrin at socrates.berkeley.edu - aperrin at igc.apc.org

Hello- Tired of the crashes I was experiencing with r 1.2.1 on Windows ME, I downloaded the r-1.2.1.tgz under my Debian Linux box. I untared, unzipped and then I ./configure and make as specified i the FAQ. But something went wrong...I had version 0.90 per-installed, as it comes with the normal Debian distribution and now, whenever I run R, the old version is the one that executed. Can anyone kindly help, please? I'm not very experienced with Linux, so I don't quite know where it went wrong. Thanks for any help/advice/tip.
