Subject: map projections
In-Reply-To: Message from Bernie McConnell <bm8@st-andrews.ac.uk> of "Fri, 20 Apr 2001 17:34:44 BST." <3.0.5.32.20010420173444.0091ad20@bute.st-and.ac.uk>
I don't know of any R code for this, but there is a freely available
software package from the US Geological Survey supporting over 70
different projections, including the ones you mention.
You can get it from
ftp://kai.er.usgs.gov/pub/Proj.4/
The relevant file is PROJ.4.3.3.tar.gz.
The documentation is very good (get the the postscript files
PROJ.4.3.ps.gz, OF90-284.ps.gz, and SWISS.ps.gz from the above directory).
I know NetBSD has this in the Packages Collection
http://www.netbsd.org/packages/misc/proj/
(I ought to know, I imported it). I think Debian GNU/Linux has it
also. So if you use one of these systems you might not need to
compile it yourself.
Regards,
Jason Beegan.
