Then with 3 steps: Stop read Think I saw I just needed to change the line input.cast <- cast(input.melt, Species ~ *Date*, fun.aggregate = sum) to input.cast <- cast(input.melt, Species ~ *Time*, fun.aggregate = sum) ...and it all works as expected and needed.
