conversion of d m s (lat) d m s (long) coordinates into decimal coordinates

Unfortunately, my versions of MacOS and of R are too old:

 > install.packages("measurements")

Warning message:
package ?measurements? is not available (for R version 3.2.1)

 > library(measurements)

Warning message:
le package ?measurements? a ?t? compil? avec la version R 3.2.5

There is no older package to do the same?

Is there some 'simple' R script to do such a conversion?
I am using R v. 3.2.1. on a iMac OS 10.6.8.
May be this topic had already been resolved but I was unable to find 
the result in the FAQs.
