We are very grateful that Uwe Ligges has taken over the production of the pre-compiled Windows versions of CRAN packages. This has been mainly automated, and only packages that build out-of-the-box will be available from CRAN. A few others (SJava, XML, gstat, netCDF, xgobi) are available from http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/RWin. Running update.packages() (or updating packages from the RGui menu) will update packages for the last month or so. Be aware that the bundles VR and dse cannot be updated this way in rw1070 because of a bug: you need to download the zip files and manually unzip them in rw1070/library. The packages built by Uwe are currently on the Vienna master and will propagate around CRAN shortly. They should automatically reflect new or updated packages on CRAN (once the mirroring glitches are sorted out).
