library doubt

Hi all.

I'm trying to install the packages Rstreams and RPgSQL, but with no
success.

Did the configure work?  Looks like the .so was not made, and both
packages have configure scripts.

I did R INSTALL name package but if I try library(Rstreams) I get the
following error:

Error in library.dynam("Rstreams",pkg,lib):
	dynamic library 'Rstreams' not found
Error in library(Rstreams): .First.lib failed

Where did I go wrong? I'm using R 1-1-1 on a Debian GNU/Linux box.

I believe that Debian users at TU Wien have successfully installed both.

Well, I did this:
./configure (and everything looks fine)
R INSTALL RPgSQL and actually I got these errors:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lf77blas
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make *** [/usr/lib/R/library/RPgSQL/libs/RPgSQL.so] Error 1

So it seems  you are right, but where's the mistake?

So it seems  you are right, but where's the mistake?

Install the Debian package atlas2-dev.

There is now a Debian package r-base-dev_1.1.1-2_all.deb on the CRAN
archives that you should install if you want to be sure of being able
to compile add-on packages.  The r-base-dev package does not contain
any programs or libraries but it forces the correct dependencies on
other packages so you can compile other code to add to R.
