how to deal with a changed plotting title?

hi,

I am trying to plot a series of graph with varied titles (slightly).
So I was trying to format it and pass it to "main" in the plot
function, but it doesn't seem to work:

for example: i is variable part

plot( .... main=format(c("graph ", i)) ...)

what is the correct way of handling this?

this a classic "paste" task

...main=paste("graph", i)...
