I use Windows 2000 with Internet Explorer (5.5), R 1.4.0, ESS and emacs. Internet Explorer frequently crashes upon using the search engine. You should upgrade your IE, not least for security reasons. I see no problems with 6.0 (fully patched). You should also upgrade your R.
