Note that I know of: why would one want a lower-quality installer than that provided? The installer is scriptable: see the rw-FAQ.

Brian, I can use an MSI installer package to install R on any number of Windows PCs without leaving my desk by using Windows' Group Policy. Is this possible using R's own scriptable installer? The setup program build by Inno Setup, as you find it in the binaries section of CRAN is much better than what you would get with the MSI installer, and it has all required features. Best, Philippe Grosjean
