When I make certain values greater with the lmer function, variance components that I expect to give a certain value are switched from how I expect them to be. Has anyone else had this problem?
This question is too vague (and non-reproducible) for us to answer. Please try reading the posting guide and http://tinyurl.com/reproducible-000 and reposting at r-sig-mixed-models at r-project.org (a dedicated mailing list for mixed model questions). What values are you making greater? What are the variance components? How do you expect them to be and how do you know you're right? Please help us help you ... Ben Bolker
