Hi, I am doing my first steps with R. This worked so far: - Installed R1.5.1 from binary distribution - Installed SJava 0.62.8 from binary distribution - Executed Java statements within R Problem: If I call R from Java, I get an UnsatisfiedLinkError: RInterpreter.DLL not found. This DLL is completely missing, I searched all drives for it. In "Calling R from Java" I found a hint: "...you will need to have built R as a shared library. You can do this by passing the argument --enable-shared to the configure script..." Ok, I downloaded the source of R1.5.1 and run the script: $ sh configure --enable-shared uname: not found chmod: not found configure: error: cannot create configure.lineno; rerun with a POSIX shell $ Although this error occurred, make runs fine and creates Rgui.EXE, R.DLL.... but no RInterpreter.DLL. I installed all the tools recommended in http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Rtools/ - Tools.ZIP http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Rtools/tools.zip - Perl http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActivePerl/Download.html - MINGW compiler http://www.mingw.org/ Any help is highly appreciated. If configure failed, chances are that you ran make with a default configuration (without --enable-shared), so my guess is that you need to get that step to work. Since it cannot find a couple of key commands, you might need to set your PATH variable correctly.

I think this is trying to follow the _Unix_ instructions on _Windows_. Try the Windows instructions for SJava (but look in the recent R-help archives for problems with the misuse of version$os in setting the path separator).
