Is it possible to render a volume like the one attached, in R using packages misc3d or rgl if I have the data for the individual surfaces (top and bottom for each layer). Thanks

Your figure wasn't attached, but I'd guess the answer is yes. rgl allows you to plot multiple surfaces in the same figure. Duncan Murdoch
