Erin, We recently received an email message saying version 3.0 was coming soon. As I remember it, there will be a number of important improvements, but no major changes in functionality. Version 2.xx will probably be fine for your class. http://developer.r-project.org/ says "the next release is not scheduled yet". In addition, there was a recent e-mail on one of the lists from Peter Dalgaard saying that release 3.0.0 is due in April (and release 2.15.3 about a month before). Ben Bolker
