Why should *that* be reachable?
The R FAQ (and other places) contains
FAQ> To "submit" to CRAN, simply upload to
FAQ> `ftp://cran.r-project.org/incoming/' and send an email to
FAQ> <wwwadmin at cran.r-project.org>.
which is quite a different address.

a lot of nonsense (below) My sincere apologies, particularly to Jim! Yes, that address *should* work, and it's a problem of the R-Project server (at U Wisconsin, thanks to Doug Bates). Martin.

I corresponded privately with Jim about the bounce and I can't see that there is a problem with the machine that serves as the MX host for the r-project.org domain. I think the problem may have been local to Jim - the mailserver in question could have been his local SMTP server. -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !)
